Mary Jackson
Co-Founder

Mary has a background in transportation, specializing in bicycle and pedestrian planning, design and environmental justice. Her interest has always been to connect people to resources, and connect people together to build community.  Being part of the start-up of Stand Up Minnesota was a natural outcome of her interests and background. She lives in the Twin Cities and enjoys taking care of family and friends’ dogs, sitting lakeside, biking, walking and visiting with friends over a cup of coffee.

Laura Davis
Co-Founder

Laura has worked in the areas of employment law and labor relations for several large Minnesota corporations and currently works in the public sector. She has been a tireless volunteer holding various leadership positions for over 20 years, and is currently the Vice Chair of Senate District 49 Democrats. She has served as Chair of the state bar association’s  Labor and Employment law section, as a member of the Edina Human Rights and Relations Commission and as a member of the Edina Football Association’s Board of Directors. She is a graduate of William Mitchell College of Law where she was a law review staff member and associate editor.

Nicole Hentges

A life long Minnesota resident, Nicole lives in Medina, MN, with her husband and two young children. She holds a Master’s of Science in nursing degree from the University of Minnesota and works as gerontological nurse practitioner delivering primary care to the frail elderly population in the assisted living setting. Nicole was a delegate to the 2016 state convention representing the sub-caucus interest of Separation of Church and State.

She is eager to engage in work that promotes progressive politics and offers her skills to assist the steering committee with community organizing, outreach and strategic planning.

Emily Christie

Emily is a marketing professional with an MBA from Temple University in Philadelphia, where she worked for several years in STEM publishing.  She has done small business consulting and run her own small business in the Twin Cities for over 6 years, and inspired by her faith, has a passion for service to others.  Her two children attend public schools in Edina, MN, where she lives with her family.

Emily is the Secretary for Stand Up Minnesota.

Heather Yun Coleman

Heather was born and raised in South Korea and immigrated to the United States of America when she was 13. Her father served in the military and she was afforded the luxury of travelling the world early on. She runs a web development company with her pets (they are voting members) and has been active in political endeavors for over a decade.

Heather serves as Technical and Web developer for SUM.

Curtis Johnson

A lifelong Democrat and science fiction fanatic, Curtis has been a strong education advocate holding positions in local and state PTA.  He was raised in Florida but has called Minnesota his home ever since college. Curtis holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Macalester College.  He lives in Roseville with his wife and two daughters.  He supports the steering committee with his expertise in technology and networking with outside groups.

Autumn Lubin

Autumn has consulting firm, specializing in training and program design for non-profits. Her workshops include helping people build their life around what matters most to them, as well as identifying white privilege, learning the language of inclusion and becoming culturally competent.

 She brings people together, whether it’s growing her family built on love not biology, connecting friends through a party, extending a hand to others, or joining this resistance to protect our constitution and rights for all.  Autumn and her husband have signs at their front door and in their yard that read, “The Lubin House, where everyone is family” and “All are welcome here.”

Jordan Orzoff

A Chicagoan by birth but a Minnesotan by choice, Jordan has been a lifelong Democrat, sometimes even backing candidates who win! He holds a PhD from the University of Minnesota in industrial/organizational psychology with a minor in statistics.  Jordan works at the U’s Twin Cities campus. He lives in Richfield with one daughter and one hamster.

He supports the steering committee with expertise in survey research and data analysis.

Renita Fisher

Renita is a Capital Markets Operational Risk Consultant, with over 15 years in mortgage banking operations and management. She studied Mandarin at the Beijing Language and Culture University in China. Her love of politics began in her childhood, learning from her father who served in the diplomatic community for over 40yrs. After living in several countries around the world,  Minnesota is now home after becoming a U.S. citizen in 2008.

 

A proud mom of a 13yr old, she enjoys reading, travel and volunteering. She is an activist passionate about elevating women in progressive politics, engaging our communities to drive the movement for meaningful impact on legislative issues that moves us forward.

Pat Forner Arnst

Pat has been an organization consultant to small business and non-profits since 1991.  Among other organizations, she has worked with the Sensible Land Use Coalition since 1995 on member services, data management, marketing, web site and social media development and content, and board development.  Her civic engagement includes managing several successful local candidate campaigns for city offices, working as both a park commissioner in Shorewood and as a planning commissioner, serving on a re-development advisory committee and as a candidate for mayor in 2006.

Thea Harriday
Theamarie (Timmie) is a retired senior financial analyst.  A graduate of Augsburg College in Minnesota plus countless graduate courses at UCLA and Cal State LA in California.  Her career in accounting and finance has spanned over 40 years.  Most recently 10 years with Thomson Reuters, but has worked for many years at GE and Orange Julius.  In all of her positions she has always been involved in human rights organizations within her employment and in her community.  This is her first time involved in anything political, but she says the current environment demands it.  Her passion is for human rights for all, and has a special commitment to including LGBTQ.  She is a recent widow of an African-American Lutheran pastor (married for 47 years) and the proud parent of 4 adult children, 3 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.  As a family they did road trips, mostly camping, in all 48 states. She has also been to Hawaii, so her wish list now includes Alaska to complete visiting all of the USA. Thea loves music, theater, sports, family, travel, reading, and her new passion for protesting injustice
